Mansa Musa is considered by many historians as the richest human to ever live. He ruled the Mali
empire in Africa for twenty-five years, which was extremely rich in salt and gold, in fact it reported that they were
the largest gold producer in the world and had half of the world’s total supply. However, Mansa Musa is widely
known for his generosity because he gave away huge amount of gold to the poor especially the people he met
during his pilgrimage to Mecca, which is one of the most extravagant pilgrimage in human history, the voyage
which will span 4,000 miles was traveled by Musa along with 60 thousands men and twelve thousand
slaves draped in persian silk carrying gold and heralds. During the journey, it reported that Mansa Musa built a
mosque every friday. However, His generosity somewhat backfired because it also claimed that he spent so much
gold on souvenirs during his journey that he crashed the local economy and caused mass inflation and if you
really think about that, it highlight how absurdly rich Mansa Musa was that he essentially caused a financial crisis
